Could anything be more romantic than a wedding on the beach? If that's your dream then Florida can give it to you.
From the gentle Emerald Coast in Northwest Florida's Panhandle, down the Gulf Coast with its beautiful white beaches like Captiva Island, to the laid back Florida Keys, there are hundreds of choices.

Round to the Atlantic coast with sophisticated South Beach, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, up to Cocoa Beach and its proximity to Orlando, right up to Jacksonville in the North East with warm breezes and fantastic surf, there is a beach with the character you seek.
Of course you could do all the work yourself, but for a beach wedding, we would recommend the use of a wedding planner.
They will know where to get a floral arch for you to be married under, chairs suitable for the beach for your guests, having the beach cleaned and swept for the occasion, as well as all the other things like the minister, bouquets, receptions, transport etc.
You can have it as simple or as sophisticated as you want, and at prices to suit all budgets. They will also help you with deciding time of year and time of day for your service, and suitable bridal wear for the beach.
When you have the wedding depends on where you are in Florida, and vice versa.
Plan a mid-day wedding in the tropical Keys in August and you will fry; a sunset wedding would be much more comfortable there.
The Panhandle would be lovely in summer, the Gulf Coast from Spring into early Summer, the Florida Keys and the South in the Autumn (fall) and winter and in North and Central Florida the Spring is a good choice.
Again, your wedding planner could help with local knowledge about the area you choose.
In the Hurricane season (June to November) it rains most afternoons. If there were to be a hurricane, your wedding would certainly have to be cancelled!
There are different levels of insurance so check exactly what you are covered for; for example, most policies do not cover a cancellation of the wedding by the bride or groom. Also some may not cover you abroad.
Also check your travel insurance and with your existing Home Contents Insurance company to see what you are currently covered for (theft etc.) and if they offer wedding insurance as it may be cheaper for existing customers. Also speak to your wedding planner who may have contacts with Wedding Insurers and can get you a good deal.
There are plenty of companies offering Florida wedding planning services, dress hire or suitable venues to make your special day one of the most memorable days of your life (see our Florida weddings directory).
