The 2nd edition of Travellers Orlando was published on April 1, 2006 by Thomas Cook Publishing.
The Thomas Cook Travellers series are compact full colour guides to specific regions and cities and offer a broad range of information in a small book.
Like a lot of Florida guides there is a chapter on the background and history of Florida and then a few pages on best times to go, how to get there and how to get around, currency, language and tipping etc.
The main part of Travellers Orlando is split into two chapters - What to see in Orlando and Beyond Orlando.
As well as
Amazon.com,
Travellers Orlando can also be bought at other book stores like
Amazon.co.uk and
Amazon.ca
The Orlando chapter covers all the major theme parks including SeaWorld, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World plus the smaller attractions like Wet n' Wild and Wonderworks giving maps and brief details of each attractions.
Because of its size, it cannot hope to cover everything in the same details as say the Unofficial Guides but in its favour, it is small and light enough to slip in your pocket or bag and it is cheaper.
The Beyond Orlando chapter includes details of some of the further away attractions like Silver Springs, Cypress Gardens, Busch Gardens and the Kennedy Space Center. There are also suggested tours and walks for places like St. Augustine, Winter Park, Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, Tampa and St. Petersburg.
A Getting Away chapter covers lakes and rivers, parks and gardens and some of the native wildlife like manatees for when you tire of the normal tourist attractions.
Finally there is a Directory chapter with details on shopping, entertainment including Disney's Pleasure Island, Universal's CityWalk and the Orlando dinner shows, budget tips, holidaying with children, sports and leisure, food and drink, hotels and accommodation and practical information and advice.
The Travellers Orlando guide book is similar in both size and concept to the Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness Top 10 Orlando book; the Dorling Kindersley book wins on style but the Travellers Orlando book has slightly more content at the end of the day.
There have been many guide books written about the Walt Disney World Resort and the central region of Florida. We are constantly reviewing many of them and our aim is to publish reviews of the best Walt Disney World Resort guide books on these pages.
Note that most guide books are re-published annually so you can often pick up a bargain if you don't mind last year's edition.
