Independent guide and review of Florida as a holiday destination

Florida Christmas Gifts

Florida is a magical place around Christmas and the Holiday season but if you cannot be there in person, then why not think about buying your loved ones a gift to remind them of Florida throughout the coming year.

Florida 2008 Calendars

The Florida Review and Travel Guide publish a free monthly desktop calendar for your home computer, but how about a 2008 calendar to hang on the wall. There are plenty to choose from; everything from nature subjects like Dolphins and Manatees, to places, planners, tide charts and of course all the big sports teams are promoted via memorabilia including wall and desk calendars plus advent calendars.

You will find a host of calendars for teams such as the Florida Gators, Florida Marlins, Florida Panthers, Florida State Seminoles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, Miami Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Children's Books

If you have young children, especially 4 to 8 year olds, then there are a couple of great Florida Christmas story books, such as A Manatee Christmas, Night Before Christmas in Florida, Daniel and the Sand Angel: A Florida Christmas Story and The Florida Night Before Christmas.

Children's DVDs

Kids love cartoons and films and Disney in particular often re-release some of their all time classics in time for the holiday season.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the original release of The Jungle Book and Disney have just re-released it in a specially re-mastered Platinum 2 disc DVD Edition with lost characters and songs dropped from the first cinema release. Did you know there was a character called Rocky the Rhino?

Save The Manatees

A great gift for any child is to adopt an endangered animal and nothing could be more appropriate for Florida than to adopt a manatee. The Save the Manatee Club has an adoption program you can find at www.savethemanatee.org.

You get to choose from a number of manatees at Blue Spring, Homosassa Springs or Tampa Bay and you also get a quarterly newsletter. Our adopted manatee, Rosie is at Homosassa Springs and it is just a great feeling to call in on her when we get the chance.
