The best time to see Florida manatees in the wild is during the winter months when they congregate around the warmer mouths of rivers and by the outlets of power stations.

  • Save the Manatee Club
    The Save the Manatee Club is a membership-based, national nonprofit organization. Funds from the Adopt-A-Manatee program go toward public awareness and education projects; manatee research; rescue and rehabilitation efforts; advocacy and legal action in order to ensure better protection for manatees and their habitat.

  • Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park
    A Florida State Park, Homosassa Springs is truly unique as a park featuring a wide variety of native wildlife including the endangered manatees, and a myriad of fresh and saltwater fish in a first-magnitude spring. A floating observatory allows visitors an underwater view of the spring with its resident manatees and the hundreds of fish who are free to come and go.

  • Florida Power and Light Company
    The Manatee Observation Center at Riviera Beach is usually open from January 2 through February 28 but due to the nation's heightened security status, it is currently closed.

  • Lowry Park Zoo, Tampa
    Join our Zoo Keepers at the manatee amphitheater for the "Manatee Encounter" show. It's located just outside the Manatee Center. During this 15 minute long introduction to Florida's Endangered West Indian Manatee you'll learn about how Lowry Park Zoo actively helps in the preserving of this animal in the wild.

  • SeaWorld Orlando
    Visit Manatee Rescue and immerse yourself in the underwater world of the Florida manatee. Manatees who live in this habitat were rescued by SeaWorld. Often, Manatee Rescue becomes a manatee halfway house, where these endangered animals receive care before being released back into Florida waters.
