Independent guide and review of Florida as a holiday destination

Florida Flights - British Airways

British Airways are currently offering around 26 direct flights to Florida each week from the UK into Orlando, Miami and Tampa (timetable valid 30 March 2008 to 25 October 2008).

It is also possible to fly to Fort Lauderdale via British Airways code-share partner, American Airlines, routing via Orlando.

If you are just looking for a flight then you can check flight times, ticket prices and book online using the panel to the right or if you are looking at an all-inclusive package deal with perhaps a hotel and car hire as well, then try British Airways Holidays.

British Airways Holidays can offer fly-drive packages to all the Walt Disney World Resort hotels plus other hotels throughout Florida.

Don't forget you can take a British Airways regional flight from other parts of the UK to London Heathrow or Gatwick to make your connection to Florida

Remember that all return flights from Florida to the UK fly overnight so you arrive in the UK on the following day.

Miami (MIA)

British Airways operate two direct flights to Miami from London Heathrow each day, departing at 9:35 am and 1:40 pm. It is also possible to fly via Orlando from London Gatwick.

Orlando (MCO)

From London Gatwick you can fly direct to Orlando or Tampa. There is one British Airways flight every day of the week non stop to Orlando leaving at 11:05 am. On Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday there is a second flight at 1:30 pm. It is also possible to fly via Miami.

British Airways also offer two daily flights to Orlando in conjunction with their codeshare partner, American Airlines. The British Airways flights depart London Heathrow to either Chicago or Miami and then onward via American Airlines to Orlando.

Tampa (TPA)

The non stop British Airways flights from Gatwick to Tampa are every day of the week except Mondays and Wednesdays, departing at 12:20 pm.

British Airways also offer a daily flight to Tampa in conjunction with their codeshare partner, American Airlines. The British Airways flights depart London Heathrow to Chicago and then onward via American Airlines to Tampa.

Checked Baggage Allowance

British Airways have republished their checked baggage allowances on domestic and long haul flights. On flights to the USA, First and Club World passengers are allowed to check in 3 bags whilst World Traveller Plus and World Traveller are allowed 2 bags.

The allowances on domestic UK flights are only one bag unless you are making an ongoing British Airways international connection in which case the long haul allowance prevails.

All bags must be 23 kgs (51 lbs) or less but an amnesty is in force until September 30, 2007 allowing bags up to 32 kgs to be checked in.

Excess baggage charges have been standardised at £30 per extra bag on domestic flights, £60 per extra bag on European flights and £120 per extra bag on long haul flights. Customers will get a 30 per cent discount on these rates if they pre-pay online. The changes came into full effect in September 2007.
