Legoland Florida

Lego have announced the opening of Legoland Florida on the site of Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.

It will be the largest Legoland to date and will create 1,000 jobs. It is expected to open in late 2011.

Universal U Select

Universal Orlando has announced a new ticket pricing structure called "U Select", in time for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It follows a similar idea introduced by Walt Disney World in 2005, the Disney "Magic Your Way" ticket system and the idea is to encourage guests to visit the Universal parks for more than just a couple of days.

Free Gift Card

Disney have announced a free Disney Gift Card with a value of up to $750 for selected 5-night/6-day non-discounted vacation packages booked by March 27, 2010 and used by June 3, 2010. There are different 'blackout' dates depending upon resort.

It follows the same general layout as the flagship Birnbaum's Walt Disney World book but is tailored to adults looking for fun, nightlife, shopping and even romance including weddings and honeymoons. However there is a lot of overlap and in general it is more geared towards the older visitor.

As its title suggests, Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Without Kids is specifically for singles and couples plus guests with disabilities visiting Walt Disney World without children; though young at heart

The 2010 edition gives you the latest updates on the changes in Downtown Disney, all the latest Disney restaurants, the newest Vacation Club properties at Kadani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort.

If you are planning on visiting with children then you would probably be better off looking at the standard Birnbaum's Walt Disney World book instead.

There are five main chapters totally around 220 pages in this slim volume plus colour photographs, illustrations, maps and some discount coupons. As Birnbaum is the only official Disney publisher, it tends to have all the latest details of new attractions and prices but perhaps in not as objective as more independent publications.

The first chapter, Planning Ahead, deals with planning before you go, for example, the best times to go to beat the crowds, monthly temperatures and rainfall charts, what to pack, special events, golfing vacations and cost and time saving tips. There are also sample itineraries and touring schedules geared towards adults.

The second chapter, Checking In, reviews all of the resort hotels including those in the Downtown Disney area, combined land-sea vacations with Disney Cruise Lines and details of Walt Disney World transportation.

The third chapter, Theme Parks: The Big Four, covers Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom with the emphasis on adult orientated attractions, rides and shows.

The final chapter, Dining and Entertainment, reviews all the Disney restaurants, dinner shows and nightlife.
