It is two years since the previous edition Drive Around Florida by Mick Sinclair was published in April 2007 and this edition is updated with the latest information on attractions, lodgings, shopping and eating recommendations within each tour area. Format: Paperback Unlike most other Florida guide books, the Drive Around Florida book is built around a series of 25 drives throughout the State, ranging from a couple of miles of local sightseeing around a city centre like Miami to an all day 300 mile trek right across the Everglades or a drive along the land-bridge connecting the Florida Keys. Combining guidebook and route map, this new book contains everything a self-drive traveller needs to know to tour Florida by carEach drive includes a full colour detailed map of the area, highlights of the journey, suggested accomodation and places to eat, a driving route map with stop off points and a detailed set of tour directions including total distance and estimated time. Many of the drives also include additional detours if you have more time available. The Drive Around Florida book covers the whole State including the Keys, Miami, the Everglades, Palm Beach, Fort Myers, St. Petersburg, Daytona Beach, Amelia Island, St. Augustine, Tallahassee, Orlando and many other routes. Buy This BookAs well as Amazon.com, Drive Around Florida can also be bought at other book stores like Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.ca. Each chapter covers one touring area and is prefixed by an introduction with a summary of the main attractions and ratings, to last each one day and often more followed by a suggested tour and alphabetical gazetteer of all the major points of interest. In the main towns and cities, there are even walking tours to allow you to really soak up the atmosphere. For drivers unfamiliar with Florida or indeed driving in America, there is a driver's guide to assist fly-drive travellers with road safety information and rules of the road including road signs. The guide also includes many of Florida's beautiful beaches and wildlife reserves as well as the more well known tourist attractions like the Orlando theme parks, the Kennedy Space Center and the art deco buildings of Miami Beach.
Note that most guide books are re-published annually so you can often pick up a bargain if you don't mind the previous edition. |
