Bruce Hunt is a native Floridian and has also written two volumes entitled Visiting Small-Town Florida (Volumes 1 and 2).

He has an easy going writing style and enjoys tracing the history of the places he has visited and the lives of people he meets.

Included in it's 240 pages are descriptions of 135 of Florida's best inns and bed & breakfasts, each visited by the author and split by region.

For each inn you will find the usual factual information such as address and telephone number, email and website address, number of rooms, typical room rates and amenities.

What makes this book more enjoyable to read are the detailed descriptions of the inns and their surroundings and recommendations on local restaurants, his favourite rooms and even what he had for breakfast.

There are also tales of pirates, ghosts and some of Florida's founding fathers including the rail magnates and hoteliers, Henry M Flagler and Henry B Plant.

The book covers everything from small country bed and breakfasts to charming seaside retreats and elegant Victorian era hotels where the Vanderbilts, DuPonts, and Rockefellers used to stay during the winter months.

Note that most guide books are re-published annually so you can often pick up a bargain if you don't mind the previous edition.
