Legoland Florida

Lego have announced the opening of Legoland Florida on the site of Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.

It will be the largest Legoland to date and will create 1,000 jobs. It is expected to open in late 2011.

Universal U Select

Universal Orlando has announced a new ticket pricing structure called "U Select", in time for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It follows a similar idea introduced by Walt Disney World in 2005, the Disney "Magic Your Way" ticket system and the idea is to encourage guests to visit the Universal parks for more than just a couple of days.

Disney have announced a free Disney Gift Card with a value of up to $750 for selected 5-night/6-day non-discounted vacation packages booked by March 27, 2010 and used by June 3, 2010. There are different 'blackout' dates depending upon resort.

Fodor's Guide Books

Fodor's publish over 300 guide books to destinations throughout the world including Florida, Walt Disney World and Caribbean cruising.

Most of the books are revised and updated each year and the Walt Disney World editions for the following year are generally published around August/Octomber time:

If you are not bothered about having the very latest edition, you can often pick up a bargain by buying the previous year's edition.

The Fodor's guides are renowned for their authoritative editorial and colour photographs.

Florida

There are two books on Florida in general, though the Fodor's Exploring Florida has not been re-published since 2006. The main Fodor's Florida book is published annually.

South Florida

There are three books on South Florida, namely Fodor's South Florida, Fodor's Miami & Miami Beach and Fodor's In Focus Florida Keys.

Walt Disney World Resort

There are two books on the Walt Disney World Resort. The main Fodor's Walt Disney World: with Universal Orlando and SeaWorld guide covers just about everything and there is an edition with kids in mind, Fodor's Walt Disney World with Kids: with Universal Orlando and SeaWorld.

Like the Birnbaum books, if you are specifically visiting without kids then you might want to consider The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups which focuses on attractions and activities more suitable to adults.

There are also two Florida related books in the 25 Best series; Fodor's Miami's 25 Best and Fodor's Orlando's 25 Best.

Cruising

For anyone contemplating a Caribbean cruise, then there is Fodor's Caribbean and Fodor's Caribbean Ports of Call. There is also a more general book called The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises.

Unlike the Unofficial Guides, the Fodor's Guides are richly illustrated with colour photographs.

If you are looking for an "official" guide book (for Walt Disney World) then you should consider the Birnbaum books, alternatively, there is also various books from Frommer (Frommer's Complete), the Unofficial Guides and Passporter.
