Florida Vacation Home Villas

When we first started visiting Florida, we had a young child, and found that hiring a private vacation home/villa was ideal for us.

It enabled us to stick to reasonable bedtimes and still have somewhere for us to sit, relax and watch TV or swim without disturbing her.

If you stay in a villa, we can thoroughly recommend getting a villa with a swimming pool. There is nothing better than taking a midday break from the parks to have a swim in your own private pool.

If you are staying in the Orlando area, we have found that developments just south of Highway 192 in Kissimmee are ideal for easy access to all the theme parks and amenities.

However, as Disney has expanded their operations, new developments are being built to the west and south west in the Clermont, Davenport, Haines City areas along Route 27 and these are proving very popular.

Today there are estimated to be between 20,000 and 25,000 vacation villa homes available to rent around the theme parks in the Greater Orlando area ranging from small 2 or 3 bed family homes up to 4 or 5 bed executive homes.

Some of the larger vacation home/villas will have two lounge/dining areas (one formal and one family) around a central open plan kitchen area.

Read our reviews of villa developments in the Orlando and Kissimmee area and thing to look for when choosing a villa.

Note that Florida timeshares are often referred to as villas when in fact they are usually condominium apartments.

You may have to pay a security deposit when making the reservation but this is returned as soon as you return home.
