Legoland Florida

Lego have announced the opening of Legoland Florida on the site of Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.

It will be the largest Legoland to date and will create 1,000 jobs. It is expected to open in late 2011.

Universal U Select

Universal Orlando has announced a new ticket pricing structure called "U Select", in time for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It follows a similar idea introduced by Walt Disney World in 2005, the Disney "Magic Your Way" ticket system and the idea is to encourage guests to visit the Universal parks for more than just a couple of days.

Free Gift Card

Disney have announced a free Disney Gift Card with a value of up to $750 for selected 5-night/6-day non-discounted vacation packages booked by March 27, 2010 and used by June 3, 2010. There are different 'blackout' dates depending upon resort.

Florida Hotel Information

There are a diverse range of hotels throughout Florida with corresponding price ranges. You will find all the major chains like Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Sheraton as well as lots of smaller groups and chains.

In most hotels in Florida, you just pay for the room, not per person

Most hotel rooms will also have a choice of either a king-sized bed (super king in England) or two doubles, so many can accommodate up to four people. All are usually en-suite.

Orlando Peabody hotel on International Drive

Some hotels have suites where you have a living room/kitchenette adjoining your bedroom.

These can be quite versatile and give your more space to relax, especially if you have children with you.

If you are staying in the Orlando area, then many of the hotels will offer free transportation to the theme parks so if you are not planning on travelling far, you can get away without renting a car.

The Disney resort hotels are all themed, and provide extra amenities to their guests such as:

Character Breakfasts in their restaurants (attended by favourite Disney characters)
early entry into the parks before the rest of the world is allowed in and extra hours some evenings plus
free transportation between all the resorts and attractions and from the airport on their Magical Express service

Universal Orlando also have their own resorts hotels and whilst SeaWorld do not have any hotels of their own, they have negotiated deals with some local hotels at the southern end of International Drive. More details on many of Florida's resort hotels can be found at Best Florida Resorts.
