Legoland Florida

Lego have announced the opening of Legoland Florida on the site of Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.

It will be the largest Legoland to date and will create 1,000 jobs. It is expected to open in late 2011.

Universal U Select

Universal Orlando has announced a new ticket pricing structure called "U Select", in time for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It follows a similar idea introduced by Walt Disney World in 2005, the Disney "Magic Your Way" ticket system and the idea is to encourage guests to visit the Universal parks for more than just a couple of days.

Free Gift Card

Disney have announced a free Disney Gift Card with a value of up to $750 for selected 5-night/6-day non-discounted vacation packages booked by March 27, 2010 and used by June 3, 2010. There are different 'blackout' dates depending upon resort.

Buying Discovery Cove Tickets

Discovery Cove Orlando Florida is different to all the other Florida theme parks in that each day, admission is strictly limited to 1000 guests and you must buy your ticket in advance, you cannot simply turn up on the day and hope to get in.

You can buy:

a one day Discovery Cove ticket, either with or without a dolphin swim experience
a one day Trainer for a Day ticket including a dolphin swim
special discount tickets for Florida residents

All Discovery Cove tickets come with a 14 day admission to either SeaWorld or Busch Gardens Africa. This can be upgraded for $50 to a three park pass; i.e. SeaWorld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens Africa.

You should book up well in advance if you plan to visit Discovery Cove around main holiday times like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Changes for 2009

Discovery Cove have reverted back to annual pricing following a seasonal pricing structure and simplified their ticket offerings.

At present if you book and visit before March 31, 2009 you can get a $50 discount or if you book at least 100 days in advance you can get a $30 discount on the following dates - April 27 to May 22 and September 8 to December 18.

There is no separate pricing for adults and children as such but children under the age of 6 cannot participate in the dolphin swim.

Children under the age of 3 are admitted for free.

Valet Parking

If you are planning to visit SeaWorld, Aquatica or Busch Gardens more than once as part of your 14 day pass, it is well worth considering valet parking at Discovery Cove as you then receive special free VIP parking at SeaWorld, Aquatica or Busch Gardens (close to the main park entrance).

Included in the normal Discovery Cove ticket prices is a 14 consecutive day complimentary pass to either SeaWorld or Busch Gardens that can be used either before or after the visit to Discovery Cove. For an additional $50 charge, this can be increased to three park admissions including Aquatica for 14 consecutive days. Note that the 14 consecutive days admissions to SeaWorld, Aquatica and/or Busch Gardens Africa can now be taken either before, after or during the visit to Discovery Cove and must be confirmed at the time of booking.

Other Discovery Cove Ticket Packages

Discovery Cove also offer a Twilight Discovery package which includes a shallow-water dolphin interaction and gourmet evening meal, a Trainer for a Day package and special tickets for Florida residents.
