Valiant Air Command

Legoland Florida

Lego have announced the opening of Legoland Florida on the site of Cypress Gardens in Central Florida.

It will be the largest Legoland to date and will create 1,000 jobs. It is expected to open in late 2011.

Universal U Select

Universal Orlando has announced a new ticket pricing structure called "U Select", in time for the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It follows a similar idea introduced by Walt Disney World in 2005, the Disney "Magic Your Way" ticket system and the idea is to encourage guests to visit the Universal parks for more than just a couple of days.

Free Gift Card

Disney have announced a free Disney Gift Card with a value of up to $750 for selected 5-night/6-day non-discounted vacation packages booked by March 27, 2010 and used by June 3, 2010. There are different 'blackout' dates depending upon resort.

Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum

The Valiant Air Command was founded in 1977 by a group of volunteers dedicated to finding and preserving historic aircraft, from the First World War to the present day. Their motto is "to honour the past, educate the future and preserve our heritage".

The Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum is located on the far side of the Space Center Executive Airport in Titusville, not far from the Kennedy Space Center.

The museum has a very 'homely' feel about it and you can get up close to all the exhibits; it reminds me of the now closed Flying Tigers Museum in Kissimmee.

The 10 acre site consists of a large Main Bay/Display hangar with an adjoining memorabilia display area, a smaller restoration hangar and outside parking/storage. In total, there are around 30 aircraft on display, from around the world.

The aircraft on display range from Second World War fighters and trainers to early jets like the North American F-86F Sabre, McDonnell F-101F Voodoo and Convair F-106A Delta Dart.

Representing the Vietnam era is a Republic F-105D Thunderchief, McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II, Fairchild C-123K Provider and Soviet MiG-17.

More recent aircraft include the LTV A-7A Corsair II, Grumman A-6E Intruder and the US Navy's recently retired "Top Gun" Grumman F-14A Tomcat.

A recent restoration is that of a Grumman FM-1 Wildcat that was recovered from the bottom of Lake Michigan after sitting there for 50 years.

One of the highlights of the restoration hangar is the Douglas C-47A "Tico Belle" which has undergone a long term rebuild following a landing accident in 2001.

The gift shop sells lots of aviation related gifts and souvenirs including t-shirts and books.

Admission Charges

General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military personnel and $5 for children (aged 4-12).

Children aged 3 and under are admitted free.

The museum is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm, except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years day.

Each March, the museum holds their renowned Tico Warbird Airshow which features a range of military aircraft from the Second World War right up to the present day .
